It is that exciting time of year again, when fall is creeping in and our snowbirds are trickling back. We will appreciate some cooler weather in FL and the resuming of many activities here at Camp Solivita.
The Executive Board has been working very hard and we have a bang-up year ahead for y'all. The SBC events planned through our Program Department are nothing short of the best!
On November 10 at 1 pm in the Ballroom, we hope you can attend the dynamic, multimedia show by Rick Smith, son of the acclaimed author, Patrick Smith.
Many of our chapters have read A Land Remembered and it truly will open your eyes to the early history of Florida. Be sure to read it, if you haven't. Smith uses video interviews of his father, family photos, music, and visual effects to bring Patrick Smith's beloved novel to life. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased by calling Nan Johnston @ 863-496-4021.
Our club is expanding and all because of the love of books! Isn't it wonderful how a book is a magical thing that lets you travel to far-away places without ever leaving your chair? Reading truly gives us someplace to go when we stay where we are. I can travel to all quarters of the earth and never leave my house!
Recently we have had a record-setting string of 24 days of rain. Well, on those rainy days, I could dive into a book and escape from the blahs! Reading is a place where you're by yourself but you are never alone. Books build a stairway to your imagination and the sky is the limit! And to me, a really good book is when you dread to begin the last chapter. Books are my buddy.....
The SBC Executive Board looks forward to seeing all of our presiders are the semi-annual Advisory Board Meeting on November 10 at 7 pm at Venezia.
Please be sure your chapter is represented and you will learn about all the good things going on this season!
Remember, every morning starts a new page in your story. Make it a great one today and everyday!
So go get a good book and enjoy!
