The library in our small town was housed in an old Victorian house on Main St. On rainy days, we would pile into the car and drive to the library to make our book selections. There were so many of us that two books each could last all of us for the two weeks until the next trip. We would strategically choose our books to make sure they were of interest to all of us.
The thought of new books to read brought great joy and excitement.
Nowadays, summer still means great reading, but nothing will ever match those unencumbered days under my favorite tree!
- Do you have great childhood memories of reading?
- What are you reading this summer? Whatever it is, enjoy!
P.S. We're excited to announce that Karen Abbott will be here alive in person at our annual meeting, not a Skype.
