Happy New Year!
Recently, I read an article by Madisyn Taylor called Reading for Pleasure on the DailyOm. Her words resonated with me, reminding me why I’ve been an avid reader since childhood.
Reading for pleasure allows us to transcend our daily lives and move into stories that enthrall and enrich us.
Take a look at your bookshelf, can you recall how your most cherished books enhanced your life and made you the person you are today? I believe we've all read books that echoed within us in such a way that we've changed in our perspective of life and who we are.
Reading for pleasure means setting aside time to let your mind wander over page after page, visiting with your favorite author, or savor what you find there. It's like visiting a new friend.
Reading for pleasure means travelling the world in your mind’s eye and experiencing the thrill of knowing new characters and traveling to wonderful places.
It's an adventure.
Reading for pleasure is a gift we give ourselves.
If you find you’re running out of time to read, adjust your schedule, sit down, and lose yourself in a book.
You deserve it!
